There are literally thousands of plugins for WordPress. These plugins extend WordPress and add features to WordPress that would otherwise not be available. This is the beautiful thing about using the self hosted version WordPress versus the WordPress.com hosted version.
I’ve written about some essential WordPress plugins before but today I want to look at a few WordPress plugins that will help you make your WordPress installation a little more Google friendly.
By using the All in One SEO Pack plugin, you can make your meta tags, page header and post titles more search engine friendly. SEO is short for Search Engine Optimization, which is a bit of black art by itself.
This WordPress plugin will help you be more visible to search engines and in turn will help your site become easier to find. Don’t expect to be the number one search result in google simply by turning this on, but every little bit helps.
The best explanation and setup directions for this plugin that I often send to people is in this video.
Even though WordPress is already fairly easy for a search engine to navigate, Google XML Sitemaps helps out the process. A sitemap helps give a search engine directions on where to go within a site and which links to follow.
Using a sitemap ensures that all of the search bots out there will crawl and index your site. We all know that if a site doesn’t exist in Google, then it doesn’t really exist.
Regardless of the fact that I included this plugin in my list of essential WordPress plugins, I would be remiss to not include it in this list.
Google Analyticator takes the hassle out of manually adding the Google Analytics tracking code to your WordPress template. After you have setup your Google Analytics account. Simply install this plugin, authorize it to work with Google Analytics and your off to the races!
I suggest watching this video to get a better overview of what Google Analytics can provide you.
What are you doing to increase your visiblilty with Google? Are there any tools that you are using that make your WordPress site more Google friendly? Let me know, leave a comment.
