Ever had too many Finder windows open at one time? Ever had two, or more, finder windows open of the same folder? Ever wish you had tabs in Finder?
It’s a little bewildering why Apple hasn’t built Finder tabs into OS X natively but, thankfully, TotalFinder adds this feature.
Total Finder is an OS X application that adds Chrome-like tabs to Finder. I don’t use all of the features that TotalFinder has to offer but my favourite are drag-and-drop between tabs, drag folder to open new tab, and dual-panes.
Dual-pane mode also lets you drag and drop between the two open panels. I find dual-pane mode handy when I have the a bunch of files that I need to move between different locations.
The developer, BinaryAge, claims that TotalFinder is still in alpha. I have used it for a few months now and I found the last few versions to be stable enough to be considered at least beta versions.
TotalFinder is currently free while in Alpha. When it hits version 1.0 BinaryAge will start charging $15. Well worth the price in my opinion.
